Michael "Pazo" Joseph Verdon, 88, of Florida, formerly of Jersey City, N.J., passed away Tuesday, Dec. 3, 2013. He was born Dec. 25, 1924, in Jersey City, N.J., to Thomas and Winifred Verdon, now deceased.
He was a US Navy World War II veteran where he served on the USS Ericsson DD440 Destroyer. He was a graduate of the Rutgers University Graduate School of International Relations where he earned his masters degree. He was also a 28-year veteran of the Jersey City Police Department where he retired as a detective. Afterwards he became a federal police officer for the Department of Defense before retiring in 1997. He was also a member of the Tin Can Sailors Club. He enjoyed running, swimming and reading. He will be greatly missed.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 64 years, Gertrude M. Verdon; five children, Michael (Susan) Verdon of Thailand, Patrick Verdon of New Jersey, Rosemarie Verdon of Bayonne, N.J., Mary Verdon of Jersey City, N.J., and Joseph (Margaret) Verdon of Haworth, N.J.; eight grandchildren, Michael, Daniel, Joseph, Anthony, Michael, Liam, Ella and Conor; as well as six great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a son, Danny Verdon; as well as four siblings, Helen Burke, Mary Donaway, Thomas Verdon and Francis Verdon.
