Seahawks roll to 5-0

East Lee County was no match for the Cape Coral Seahawks Thursday night at Dave Warkentin Field. The Seahawks easily dispatched the Jaguars 8-0 to remain unbeaten on the season.

Eli Vega and Miguel Martinez scored two goals apiece to lead the Seahawks. Jonathan Jimenez and Camillo Avendano added one goal and one assist apiece. Other goals came from Christopher Quinones and Andre Blanco while assists were provided by Oscar Trujillo, Marvin Mosquera, Mateo Arango and Mateo Perez.

Goalkeeper Alex Collazo had to make just five saves to preserve the shutout.

The Seahawks (5-0) host Mariner Tuesday night.

Ida Baker 1, Gulf Coast 1 (tie): Gulf Coast scored the tying goal in the middle of the second half not long after Ida Baker scored its goal just after halftime in a tie game Thursday night.

Landon Day scored for the Bulldogs off an assist from Joey Minervini. Goalkeeper Trey Crispin made eight saves before leaving the game just before halftime with an injury. Diego Silva added eight saves in a reserve role. Defender Alex Howard saved two shots at the goal line as well.

"Alex was amazing," said Bulldogs coach Justin Aulls. "He was all over the field tonight."

The Bulldogs (1-0-2) play again Monday at Dunbar.

Mariner 2, Riverdale 0: Ray Gerke and Erick Rivera accounted for the winning goals as Mariner remained unbeaten with a shutout win over Riverdale Thursday.

Alex Trujillo and Michael Laborde shared goalkeeping duties with two saves apiece. Jomar Restrepo and Isaias Velazquez were credited with outstanding defense in front of the keepers.

The Tritons (4-0) host Fort Myers Friday night.

Mariner 0, Fort Myers 0 (tie) 0: Alex Trujillo made one save as Mariner and Fort Myers played to a scoreless tie Friday night.

"We had a couple of chances in the first half, but the battle was in the middle of the field," said Tritons coach Martin Cardenas. "Our defense was outstanding."

The Tritons (4-0-1) host Estero Monday night.

Girls Soccer

North Fort Myers 11, Lehigh 1: Gabby Ciancimino delivered four goals and got scoring help from seven different teammates in leading North Fort Myers' rout of Lehigh Thursday night.

Megan Richards, Nicole Paquin, Madison Lampkins, Rachel Lapczynski, Tori Kowalczk, Darian Moore and Taylor Pascal each contributed one goal for the Red Knights. Goalkeeper Coral Jarvis saved one of the two shots she faced from the Lightning.

The Knights (3-2) host East Lee County on Tuesday.

Bishop Verot 8, Gateway 0: Three different players tallied multiple goals Thursday night to send Bishop Verot to victory over Gateway.

Kelly Reynolds and Reilly McAloose knocked in three goals apiece with Becca Abernethy contributing two goals and four assists.

The Vikings (4-0-2) host Oasis at 6 p.m. Tuesday.

Girls Basketball

East Lee County 50, Mariner 42: Roshisha Mark pitched in a game-high 25 points with Deangelo Waithe adding 23 to carry East Lee County to victory over Mariner Thursday night.

Victoria Sands and Mariah Ortiz led the Tritons with 11 points apiece.

The Tritons (0-2) host North Fort Myers Friday night.

Fort Myers 56, North Fort Myers 28: Lindsay Stramel led North Fort Myers with 14 points, six rebounds and four steals Thursday night in a loss at Fort Myers.

Katelyn Kelly contributed five points and 10 rebounds for the Knights (0-2), who play at Mariner Friday night.

North Fort Myers 54, Mariner 33: Lindsay Stramel pitches in a game-high 23 points to go with nine rebounds to lead North Fort Myers to victory at Mariner Friday night.

Katelyn Kelly added 13 points with four steals and Kaycie Zorbas added 11 points for the Knights (1-2), who host Venice Tuesday.
