William Stanley Romanowski, 96, of Cape Coral passed away Saturday May 4, 2013, at his home. He was born in Brooklyn, N.Y., April 10, 1917, to Charles and Anna Romanowski. He married Elizabeth Mischler in 1952. Together they lived in Queens and E. Northport, N.Y. He served his country honorably during World War II with the U.S. Army. After the war, he worked for the Brooklyn Navy Yard and the Naval Applied Science Laboratory. Later he headed the electrical department at the VA Hospital in Northport.
Mr. Romanowski retired in 1979 and moved to Cape Coral. He was a member of St. Andrew Catholic Church. He was an avid bowler and sharpshooter.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; his daughter, Christine; two brothers, Fr. Frank and Thomas; and his sister, Josephine.

Survivors include his two sons, William (MaryEllen) Romanowski of Ronkonkoma, N.Y., and Gary (Alicia) Romanowski of Holbrook, N.Y.; one daughter, Linda (John) Bivona of E. Northport, N.Y.; one brother, Victor Romanowski of Queens, N.Y.; son-in-law, Stephen (Barbara) Brown of The Villages, Fla.; four grandchildren, Heather, Debra, Lori Jean and John; and three great-grandchildren, Christopher, Talon and Aeryn.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:30 a.m., Friday May 10, at St. Andrew Catholic Church in Cape Coral with Fr. Gordan Zanetti officiating. Burial will follow mass at Lee Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends for viewing Thursday evening at Fuller Metz Funeral Home from 7-9 p.m.
