To the editor:
Just because other communities have "Public Service Taxes" and fire department assessments and fees on their tax bills is no reason why we in Cape Coral must duplicate such an outrageous travesty.
The idea that any property taxing authority should have the right to tax our electric bills anything, let alone 10 percent, is beyond my imagination as a legitimate happening.
If not the electric, why not the very air we breathe? This thought is so outrageous that the persons we have proposing such an idea belong in the looney bin.
Rather than our Cape Coral made to eat such taxation, all the other communities suffering under the weight of such a taxation should demand a repeal of such an outrage.
If we need more money to support what we have, raise it legitimately, not in this manner which spits in the eye of every tax-paying Cape Coral home owner and business owner.
