Charles Mahlan Jr., 78, of Lakewood, N.J., and Cape Coral, formerly of Hewlett, Long Island, N.Y., passed away Thursday, March 14, 2013. He was born Oct. 19, 1934, in Queens, N.Y., to Charles and Irene Mahlan, now deceased.
He was a master plumber and was employed by TWA performing building maintenance at JFK and LaGuardia Airports for 24 years. He retired in 1992 before moving to Cape Coral 17 years ago. He also proudly served aboard the USS Shenandoah (AD-26) during 1956-1957.
He was a member of St. Andrew Catholic Church, Cape Coral, and St Dominic Catholic Church, Brick, N.J.

He was predeceased by his wife of 50 years, Elizabeth, who passed away in 2009.
He is survived by his loving companion and fiance Dorothy Javaruski, and five children, Charles (Deirdre) Mahlan, Michelle (Chris) DuBois, Steven (Denise) Mahlan, Lisa (John) Magrone and Jennifer (John) Minnigan; and seven grandchildren, Chase, Ryan, Brendan Mahlan, Samantha, Jack, Reilly Minnigan and Nicholas Magrone.
A funeral mass will be celebrated at Saint Joseph Catholic Church, 1346 Broadway in Hewlett, N.Y., Friday, March 22, at 11 a.m., followed by internment of ashes at Mount St Mary Cemetery, Flushing, N.Y.
