Betty Hurst, 78, a Cape Coral resident for over 20 years, passed away peacefully Sunday, Feb. 24, 2013, while surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Elkhart, Ind., Feb, 28, 1935, to Florence and Leon Westervelt.

As a young girl, she and her family moved to Raber, Mich., where they ran a fishing resort. She was a 1953 graduate of Detour High School and she also served as a cheerleader. Following high school, she married Louis Hank and the couple moved to Sault Ste. Marie, Mich. One of her favorite jobs was serving in the library at Soo Township Schools for over 10 years where she loved helping children learn to read.

In the 1980s, she moved to the Fort Myers area where she met and married Bob Hurst. She was one of the most kind and loving mothers to ever walk the earth. Throughout the years, her family meant everything to her. She will be sadly missed by all who were touched by her life.
