George Norman Davies Jr., 68, of Cape Coral passed away Monday, Feb. 4, 2013, at Lee Memorial Hospital in Fort Myers.
He was born in Massachusetts on May 22, 1944, the son of Florence and George Norman Davies. He graduated from Union High School in Union, N.J., and served in the U,S, Coast Guard. He married his wife of 38 years, Lois, on Oct. 13, 1974.
He spent 30 years saving lives as a dedicated firefighter to the Union, N.J., Fire Department and retired as a battalion chief in 2000. That same year he moved with his wife to Cape Coral. He was a loving granddad to his three granddaughters and was an active member of the Elks Lodge #2596 of Cape Coral.
He is survived by his wife, Lois Ann Davies; children, Alexa Davies Warner and George Norman Davies III; and three grandchildren, Alexa, Caroline and Kirra; and the family Labradoodle, Dutch.
He is predeceased in death by his parents and his sister, Diane Davies Callahan.
A memorial service will be held today, Feb. 9, at 4 p.m., at the Elks Lodge 4631 S.W. 10th Place Cape Coral.
