Burton Park hosts softball opener

Cape Coral Fastpitch Softball will kick off of the official softball season with an Opening be held on Saturday, Feb. 23, at Burton Park.

"This year we are very excited to offer our girls an even bigger experience with a police escorted parade around Burton Field, opening ceremonies with a local school choir and marching band. It's going to be an awesome day!" said league vice president Jeffrey Gazlay. "We will continue the celebration with local vendors, carnival style games, activities and inflatables. Come on out and support the league."

Currently the league serves 300 young girls ranging in age from 4 to 18 years participating in the program. Opening Day begins at 11 a.m. at Burton Park, 1502 NE 3rd Terrace.

The day will be loaded with fun-filled entertainment including carnival style games, vendors, family friendly activities, bounce houses, face painting, concession and much more. Admission and parking are free and open to the public. Tickets are available for food, games and vendor participation at the event.

Cape Coral Softball is a Little League organization representing Little League District 9, Florida Section 6. We are the only organized girls' softball league in Cape Coral. Girls of all skill levels are encouraged to participate.

Aside from teaching the sport of softball, Little League prides itself on strengthening the self-esteem of its participants, and promoting teamwork and sportsmanship.
