The word sunset in any TAX is only put into a tax law to have it approved. Check around and see where taxes or tolls have ever SUNSET. The 2020 tax of fifty cents of every $1000 of taxable real estate needs to go if for nothing else to CONTROL the spending in Lee County.

ConJob 2020 was to be a temporary program. It had noble origins, by design no doubt. Once the cash began to flow the career liars, cheats, & sociopaths moved in. It has reduced the amount of taxable land in the county and increased property taxes privately held parcels. The program overpaid for properties that no doubt benefited something or someone other than its stated intent. After years of corruption they placed a “freeze” on acquisitions. But the money kept flowing in. All that money! So we’ll just steal it outright says the current commission, no much of a surprise there. The program as acquired nearly 25,000 acres (nearly 40 square miles) and has fueled the religion of environmentalism locally, enough already! The sun sets every day, it is time for 2020 to sunset. Mission accomplished.

Where is Cape Coral's preserved land from the 2020/Taxes?

There is no land preserved in Cape Coral only TAXES charged to make those that purchased land in other parts of Lee County rich. Oh there might be some from the Cape involved in blind trusts that have profited. However like most projects here the general populance just pays the freight! Again, and Again and again.

Don't touch our 20/20 dollars! Why do we continue to flush our future quality of life and our health for short term fixes? Tax the residents to pay the bills and fix the budget for future years, but don't steal the money I agreed to put aside for the health of our planet. It seems the same people crying about leaving our grandchildren debt don't mind crapping on those same grand children's future health and welfare. Don't steal our future!
