Vascular & Vein Center welcomes new surgeons

Vascular & Vein Center at Gulfcoast Surgeons this week announced that Johan Escribano, M.D., RPVI, and Matthew Sanders, M.D., RPVI, have joined the practice and are now seeing patients. Vascular & Vein Center has served the local community for more than 15 years and provides treatments for a variety of conditions.

A University of South Florida graduate, Escribano graduated magna cum laude and earned a bachelor of science degree in biomedical science and a minor in biomedical physics. He earned his medical degree from Ponce School of Medicine and Health Sciences in Puerto Rico. Following his internship and residency at Rutgers University Medical School in New Jersey, Escribano completed a vascular surgery fellowship at the University of Tennessee College of Medicine.

An honor graduate from Louisiana State University, Sanders earned a bachelor of science degree in biological science and a minor in German. After also earning his medical degree from Louisiana State University, Sanders continued with the program and completed his general surgery residency, during which he was selected as administrative chief resident. Following his residency, he completed an ASTS-certified fellowship in multi-organ transplant surgery at Northwestern University in Chicago and a vascular surgery fellowship at the University of Miami/ Jackson Memorial Hospital in Miami, Florida. He is ABS-board-certified in surgery and is licensed to practice medicine in Florida and Illinois.

Vascular & Vein Center at Gulfcoast Surgeons is accepting new patients and has three convenient locations in Fort Myers, at 8010 Summerlin Lakes Drive, Suite 100; Cape Coral, at 1003 Del Prado Blvd., Suite 303; and Bonita Springs, at 24301 Walden Center Drive, Suite 102.

Beckwith to be honored with a McKnight's Women of Distinction Award

Samira K. Beckwith, President and CEO of Hope Healthcare, has been inducted into the Hall of Honor in the McKnight's Women of Distinction awards, a joint program of McKnight's Long-Term Care News and McKnight's Senior Living.

The program, in its second year, recognizes women who have made significant contributions to the senior living and skilled nursing professions or who have demonstrated exceptional commitment to the fields.

With more than 40 years of experience in hospice and health care, Beckwith's leadership on local, state and national levels is broadly recognized. She is a frequent participant in national and state health policy forums, and she has provided expert testimony before government bodies including the U.S. House Judiciary Committee and the U.S. Senate Aging Committee.

Since becoming president of Hope Healthcare in 1991, Beckwith has led the organization through decades of growth to meet community needs with a broad spectrum of innovative programs and services including Hope Hospice and Hope Palliative Care, Hope Connections, Hope Parkinson Program and Hope Kids Care.
