High School football teams around Lee County will take the field next week, as The School District of Lee County and the South Gulf Football Officials Association reached an agreement today.

"The District and the South Gulf Football Officials Association (SGFOA) came to an agreement today that includes the SGFOA honoring the terms of the contract it signed with our schools last May," said Rob Spicker, spokesperson for the school district.

Many of tonight's scheduled preseason games had been cancelled due to refs wanting an increase in pay. The district said that they pay the maximum allowed by the Florida High School Athletic Association.

"We look forward to putting this behind us and getting out onto the field for the sake of our athletes, coaches, band members, cheerleaders and fans," said Spicker.
