Lee County Homeless Coalition awards $50,000 to nonprofit member agencies

May 10, 2019
Cape Coral Daily Breeze

The Lee County Homeless Coalition has announced its awards to member agencies for a total of $50,000.

This grant opportunity was made available only to members of the Lee County Homeless Coalition. The coalition is an advocacy and education group made up of community and faith-based service providers, local businesses, people who are currently experiencing or have previously experienced homelessness and other advocates committed to ending homelessness.

The coalition works with members to identify potential gaps within the local continuum of care.

The coalition recognizes that its provider agencies are stretched to capacity and working harder than ever to deliver effective services often with diminishing funding.

Homelessness is a complex issue that can overwhelm independent agencies that address specific issues. The Lee County Homeless Coalition supports all homeless service provider agencies in their efforts to make homelessness a rare, brief, and one-time experience.

The agencies and the grant awards are:

Abuse Counseling & Treatment (ACT) - $1,500

Affordable Home-ownership Foundation - $1,500

All Souls Episcopal Church - $4,000

Children's Network of SWFL - $5,000

Community Cooperative - $5,000

Harry Chapin Food Bank - $2,500

Lee County Housing Development Corporation - $5,000

Lee Health - $5,000

Midwest Food Bank - $5,000

Our Mother's Home - $2,500

Project Dentist Care - $10,000

The Salvation Army - $3,000
