Studio 8's dance team, Company 8, under the instruction of Bridey Kearns, recently participated in a "magical" opportunity!

The troup performed in Disney Springs as part of Walt Disney's Performing Arts Program in Orlando. The performing arts program is a highly selective performance opportunity that judges applicants based on execution of music, choreography, precision, stage presence, showmanship and overall show appeal. Company 8 applied for consideration in July 2018 and was chosen as one of the program's 2019 selections in August.

On April 27, the 24 performers, who are all between the ages of 6 and 18, took to the stage in Disney's World Marketplace Square. Surrounded by the thousands of people who visit the collection of shops and restaurants daily, the performed a 20 minute set of 7 routines they have been practicing and perfecting all year.

As part of the Disney Youth Performing Arts program, the students were considered true Disney Performers for the day. They were treated as a professional showcase act and expected to follow all the rules and guidelines Disney expects of it's full-time cast. Prior to their performance, the children were taken to a separate Disney cast facility where they were briefed on these guidelines and given a tour and presentation on the inner workings of being a performer at Walt Disney World by one of its current cast members.

After practicing for the big show, Company 8 was presented with a Golden Mickey trophy in recognition of their hard work, determination and dedication to their craft. It also serves to commemorate their first appearance as Disney Performers. The following day, as part of the program, the children were given access to a full day of fun at the Magic Kingdom with their teammates. It was truly a memorable experience, and Studio 8 intends to apply again this summer for selection in Disney's 2020 program.

Studio 8 is at 2722 Skyline Blvd., in?Cape Coral. For additional information about the studio, call 239-338-7107 or visit www.studio8dance.com
