Seahawk girls run past Red Knights and Gators

Cape Coral Daily Breeze

The Cape Coral High girls basketball team kept its district record perfect with a 60-22 win over North Fort Myers Wednesday night at Cape High. Sierra Moore and Yarily Pacheco scored 11 points each to lead the Seahawks.

Cape Coral (4-2, 4-0 District 7A-10) is back in action Thursday at home against Lehigh. The Red Knights (1-5, 0-3) have a district game Friday at Ida Baker.

Girls soccer

Venice 4, North Fort Myers 2: The Red Knights (5-2) fell to an unbeaten Class 4A Venice (8-0) squad on the road Wednesday. North Fort Myers (2-0 in district) gets back into District 3A-13 action Friday at Island Coast.


Boys basketball

Oasis 51, Bishop Verot 48: The Sharks (3-0, 1-0) fell 10 points back early, but rallied for a District 5A-10 win against the Vikings (1-1, 1-1). Taylon Hutchins led Oasis to the win with 21 points, eight rebounds, four assists and three steals. Dsean Archilles added 12 points and seven rebounds, and Kyle Bethel added nine points for the victors. Denzel Redd scored 16 points, and Israel Torres had 15 points and nine rebounds for Verot. Bishop Verot plays Friday at Ida Baker, while Oasis is home to face Clewiston.

Cape Coral 77, Island Coast 55: Cape improved to 2-1 overall and in District 7A-10 with a victory against the Gators (0-4, 0-1). Island Coast has a home game Thursday with Estero. The Seahawks, meanwhile, will play Friday at Lehigh.

Port Charlotte 73, Ida Baker 46: The Pirates (4-0, 2-0 District 7A-10) dropped Ida Baker to 1-4, 1-2. The Bulldogs play Friday at North Fort Myers, another district foe.

Fort Myers 73, North Fort Myers 28: Fort Myers remained undefeated at 3-0. North Fort Myers (0-4) is home Friday against Ida Baker in a District 7A-10 game.

Lely 63, Mariner 29: Lely remained atop the District 6A-12 standings at 3-0, 1-0, while Mariner's slow start continued at 0-3, 0-1. The Tritons are home Friday against Dunbar.

Girls basketball

Cape Coral 59, Island Coast 6: Savannah Lang led the Seahawks with 30 points. Sierra Moore added 11 points as Cape Coral (3-2, 3-0 District 7A-10) dropped the Gators to 1-4, 0-3. The Seahawks have a home game with North Fort Myers on Wednesday. Island Coast travels to Estero on Thursday.

Port Charlotte 75, Ida Baker 27: Port Charlotte remained unbeaten at 4-0, 2-0 District 7A-10, while Baker slipped to 0-5, 0-2. Ida Baker plays Friday at Bishop Verot.

Bishop Verot 56, Oasis 30: The Vikings roared out to a 20-0 lead on their way to a District 5A-10 win. Oasis (0-5, 0-1) is home Friday against Clewiston. Verot will be home Friday to play Ida Baker.

Lely 49, Mariner 44: The Trojans (5-2, 1-0 District 6A-12) held off Mariner (3-2, 0-1) in the teams' league opener. Naomi Darrett scored 17 points for Mariner, while Maria Mintos added 15 points. The Tritons are off until Dec. 11 at Cypress Lake.

Estero 43, North Fort Myers 29: Estero pulled away in the fourth quarter to break open what had been a 24-23 contest. Susette Casares scored 13 points for the Red Knights (1-4), and Taylor Mera added 10 points.

Boys soccer

Mariner 3, Dunbar 0: The Tritons (5-0-2, 2-0-1 District 3A-13) remained undefeated behind two goals from Leo Perez. John Franco also found the net for Mariner. Robert Quintanilla got the win in goal as Mariner posted its sixth shutout of the season. Dunbar fell to 2-4, 1-1.

Cape Coral 8, Island Coast 0: Juan Parra scored four goals and assisted in two more as the Seahawks (6-3-1, 2-0-1 District 3A-13) dominated the Gators (0-8-1, 0-3). Jacob Jiminez had two goals and an assist, Jason Valasquez scored twice, and Jonathan Bush and Lukas Cunha added an assist each.

North Fort Myers 3, Port Charlotte 1: Jose Vera and Brandon Bush, both freshmen, and junior Luke Drivick scored for the Red Knights (2-3-2, 2-2-1 District 3A-13). Drivick added an assist, and Eric Bradzisch and Robert Dasilva also made assists. Logan Wolfe made five saves to pick up the win in goal. Port Charlotte dropped to 2-4-2, 1-1-1.

Bishop Verot 3, Oasis 0: Thomas Bickel's two goals led the Vikings (2-6-1, 1-2 District 2A-2) past Oasis (2-4, 1-1). Marc Cyr also had a goal for Bishop Verot.

Girls soccer

Cape Coral 9, Island Coast 0: Cape (3-4, 1-1) collected its first District 3A-13 victory at the expense of the Gators (0-8, 0-3). The Seahawks have a rivalry match coming up Friday at Mariner. Island Coast travels to North Fort Myers on Friday.

Bishop Verot 2, Oasis 0: The Vikings (7-0-2, 3-0 District 2A-12) handed the Sharks (5-1, 1-1) their first loss of the season. Oasis plays Friday at Ida Baker, while Bishop Verot will be at home against Estero.

Mariner 9, Dunbar 0: The Tritons improved to 6-1-1, 3-0 in District 3A-13. Dunbar fell to 0-5, 0-1. Next up for Mariner is a home match Thursday against Fort Myers.

North Fort Myers 6, Port Charlotte 0: Emilee Hauser had a hat trick (three goals) and Michele Cohen scored twice for the Red Knights (5-1, 3-0 District 3A-13). Makenzy Dupree added a goal for North, which was set to travels Wednesday to face Venice.
