We are not the parent of the world

November 30, 2018
Cape Coral Daily Breeze

To the editor:

What are we "not"?

We are not the parent for the world! That others feel that they can come to this country and be taken care of like a child is a misconception. But, why is this position opposed by the Democratic Party? Could it be that these newcomers know that the Democratic Party is counting on their future cooperation and support?

We fail to hear from the Democrats strong support for the wall and yet the Democrats tout that they are supporting border security. Well, it should come as no surprise but our border is a shamble as of this time. Our borders must be respected the same as one expects respect for the doors on their own home. And this country IS our home.

We are not the parent for the world yet much of the world views us as a refuge to seek for food and shelter. If this is what they seek then they should perform the needed decisions in their country to achieve what we have achieved here.

We have a legal system in place to admit foreigners. Those that show contempt for our laws surely will not undergo a conversion to suddenly obey our laws once they cross our borders.

We need a strong lock on the door to our country!
