Cape Coral Daily Breeze

Grand Knight Mitch Morgan and the members of St. Andrew Knight of Columbus Council #7131 recently donated $20,000 to various local and nationwide charity organizations. This money was raised through the voluntary efforts of the council members in conducting

charity dinner dances, Lenten Fish Fry dinners, raffles and other such local events.

Among the most notable recipients of this money were the Global Wheelchair Mission, Ronald MacDonald House, Hope Hospice, Habitat for Humanity, Lee County Homeless Coalition, Cape Coral Caring Center, St. Vincent DePaul, Community Pregnancy Clinic, St. Jude Hospital, Cats for Kids Coalition, as well as the following military organizations: Wreaths Across America, Wounded Warriors Fund, Paralyzed Veterans of America, Disabled American Veterans (DAV). and the SW Florida Military Museum.

In addition to these funds, Council #713 conducts other events, such as its annual Tootsie Roll Fund Raising Drive, St. Andrew Showtime Events and the council also operates the Funnel Cake Booth at the St. Andrew Festival each fall. The funds from these events are earmarked for specific charities, like the Cape Coral Special Populations Center and others.

Members also make large monthly donations of food and toiletries to local charities and shelters.

If anyone would care to learn more about the Knights of Columbus and its ongoing charity efforts, please call Council #7131 Membership Chairman Jack Marandino at 239-458-4612.
