Oasis falls to Canterbury 3-0 in volleyball

The Oasis Sharks fell 25-19, 25-22, 25-23 at home to Canterbury in a non-district contest Wednesday night.

The Sharks were due back in action Thursday evening against District 5A-10 rival Bishop Verot on the Vikings home floor in Fort Myers.

North sweeps Mariner: The North Fort Myers Red Knights pulled out close matches in both the girls and boys on Tuesday.

For the girls, North pulled away in the ninth frame for the win. Mariner (2-1) was led by Ramonna Baker with a 121 and Eve Corson with a 119.

On the boys' side, the Red Knights posted a 990 team score to drop Mariner (963) to 2-1. For the Tritons, Brandon Koenigs led the way with a 230, with Jayme Kenyon right behind at 225. Tyler Lin bowled a 205 and Tyler Koenings posted a 198.

Mariner was slated to face East Lee County on Thursday.


Lely 3, Mariner 0: The Tritons fell to 2-4, 1-1 in District 6A-12, with a 25-17, 25-16, 25-10 loss to Lely (5-2, 2-0) on Tuesday.

Mariner had a non-district match Thursday at Dunbar.

North Fort Myers 3, Cape Coral 1: The Red Knights (6-0, 2-0) took control after the teams split the first two games for a 25-11, 25-21, 25-16, 25-16 in District 7A-10 play. Katie Dickey had 22 kills and 17 digs for North. Cape fell to 4-4, 0-2.

The Red Knights were scheduled to play at Cypress Lake on Thursday, while Cape Coral is idle until Sept. 11 at Lemon Bay.

Riverdale 3, Ida Baker 0: In a non-district match, Riverdale (4-1) defeated the Bulldogs 25-13, 27-25, 25-18. Ida Baker (4-5) was set to face South Fort Myers on Thursday.
