High school football season begins tonight across Lee County

The 2018 high school football season kicks off tonight across Lee County, with all of the Cape area teams taking the field.

Cape Coral high school teams hosting opponents include Cape High, which takes on South Fort Myers at 7 p.m.; Island Coast versus Cypress Lake starting at 7:30 p.m.; and Mariner welcoming Estero with a 7:30 p.m. kickoff.

Other games include Ida Baker traveling to Lakewood Ranch in Sarasota, with the game starting at 7:30 p.m.; North Fort Myers venturing to Riverdale with a 7:30 p.m. start; and Oasis visiting Gateway Charter. That tilt begins at 7 p.m.

Cape Coral 3, East Lee County 0: The Seahawks won their season opener, a 25-12, 25-17, 25-11 sweep of the Jaguars in a non-district match. The Cape's home opener was Thursday night against South Fort Myers.

Late Tuesday

Sarasota Cardinal Mooney 3, Bishop Verot 0: The Vikings dropped the first match of the year, 25-19, 25-13, 25-22.

Oasis 3, SW Florida Christian 1: The Sharks split the first two games, 25-22, 17-25, but then rolled 25-6, 25-18. Oasis was at Gateway Charter on Thursday.

North Fort Myers 3, Mariner 0: The Red Knights rolled 25-10. 25-6. 25-12. Mariner (0-1) was set to be home against Island Coast on Thursday, while North (2-0) was at LaBelle.
