Jones among graduates

at Ellsworth Community College

On Friday, May 4, the graduates of Ellsworth Community College's Class of 2018 took their next step and became alumni of the college. Graduates listed below are those who completed their degree work during the fall 2017 and spring/summer 2018 terms.

Among the graduates was Elijah Jones of Cape Coral, who earned an Associate in Arts degree in liberal arts.

Ellsworth Community College is a two-year community college in Iowa Fall, Iowa. It was founded as Ellsworth College in 1890 by Eugene S. Ellsworth. Originally a private business academy, it later became a four-year college, a music conservatory and a public junior college before being absorbed into the Iowa Valley Community College District.

& the Arts offering Taking

Shape STAR Leadership Class

Maranatha School of Dance & the Arts will launch a new leadership class for area high school students. The Taking Shape STAR Leadership Class is a national youth leadership training program designed for studios, clubs and organizations passionate about growing young leaders. The program is designed in a classroom-style lesson format based on five points of the STAR (Serve, Trust, Growth, Excellence and Love) and incorporates community service opportunities.

The STAR Leadership Class focuses on monthly themes of gratitude, giving, public speaking, positive self-image, respect, time management, budgeting money and many other topics that are valuable in leadership development. The STAR Leadership Class is a great resource for college prep or other goals beyond high school.

The first class is Tuesday, Sept. 11. The class will meet from 3-4 p.m., every second and fourth Tuesday of the month. The cost is $75 per year. Enrollment in a dance, music or art class at the studio is required.

Maranatha is a More Than Just Great Dancing-affiliated studio owned and directed by Andrew and Amy Payne. The studio is located at 822 Del Prado Blvd., S., Cape Coral.

Dunkin' Donuts announces 2018 South/Southwest Florida Scholarship Program Winners

Dunkin' Donuts recently announced the recipients of its 2018 South/Southwest Florida Scholarship Pro-gram, awarding a total of $15,000 in college scholarships to high school students in South/Southwest Florida enrolling in college, university or vocational-technical school for the 2018-2019 academic year.

Among this year's scholars are: John E. Hansen of Fort Myers, attending the University of Pennsyl-vania; Ryan S. Mcgary of Fort Myers, attending the University of Florida; and Lauren G. Scott of Cape Coral, attending Lipscomb University.

Dunkin' Donuts awarded scholarships to 15 eligible students across Palm Beach-Treasure Coast, Miami Dade and Broward counties and Greater Fort Myers-Naples areas.

Students were selected based on their positive academic record and contributions to both their schools and communities.

The Dunkin' Donuts scholarship program is managed by Scholarship Ameri-ca.
