Cape Coral Belk's Charity Sale to benefit local nonprofits and schools

Just in time for back-to-school and fall kick-off, Belk is hosting a Charity Sale offering participants discounts with the opportunity to support local community philanthropic endeavors. This private ticketed event will take place Saturday, Aug. 25, from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. The first 100 guests will receive a Belk gift card ranging from $5 to $100.

Since 2012, the Belk Charity Sale has contributed more than $50 million in donations to over 6,000 nonprofits across the South.

To access the private shopping event, purchase a $5 ticket and that $5 ticket price will be deducted from the total purchase. 100 percent off the $5 ticket will go directly to the charity. Tickets can be purchased from participating charities or directly from Belk. Tickets purchased from Belk will be equally distributed among the stores partner charities.

All Belk stores across16 states are participating in the Charity Sale, each partnering with local organizations and schools.

Shelton joins Sanibel Community Bank

Ross Shelton has joined Sanibel Captiva Community Bank as a teller and customer service representative at the Gateway branch in Fort Myers. He is responsible for assisting customers with personal and business banking transactions.

Last call for nominations for Business Ethics Award

The Uncommon Friends Foundation is closing nominations for its 2018 Business Ethics Award on Sept. 1. Finalists will be announced in advance and honored at a special business ethics luncheon hosted by Florida Gulf Coast University's Lutgert School of Business and the Uncommon Friends Foundation on Tuesday, Oct. 23. The recipient of the Business Ethics Award will be announced at the annual Uncommon Evening on Thursday, Nov. 8 at the historic Burroughs Home & Gardens in Fort Myers.

Companies that have already submitted nominations for 2018 are asked to call 239-337-9503 and confirm that their nomination has been received and is on file. Businesses in Lee, Charlotte, Collier, Hendry and Glades counties who consistently demonstrate a system-wide commitment to high ethical business practices are eligible to apply. Pavese Law Firm partners named to best lawyers list

Pavese Law Firm partners William T. Haverfield II, Neale Montgomery and Christopher J. Shields were selected by peers for inclusion in the 25th edition of The Best Lawyers in America. Haverfield was selected in the practice area of family law, Montgomery was recognized in the practice area of land use and zoning Law and Shields was selected in the practice area of real estate law.

MNMW welcomes Mahosky

Cory Mahosky recently joined Mark-ham Norton Mosteller Wright & Co. P.A. after working with the firm as a Florida Gulf Coast University intern for the spring semester. Mahosky works in the tax division, helping to prepare individual and business tax returns and provide supportive accounting services.

Mahosky received his bachelor of science degree in scouting from FGCU, and is currently working towards his master of science in accounting and taxation, also with FGCU. He plans to sit for the Certified Public Accountant exam immediately following the 2019 tax season.
