Cape Coral City Manager John Szerlag has filled two key administrative positions with existing employees who will work "out of title" on an interim basis.

Public Affairs Manager Connie Barron has been named interim assistant city manager.

"In addition to continuing to supervise the public information component of our office, she will assist me in supervising Information Technology, Human Resources, and the City Clerk's Office.," Szerlag said in memo to city staff and council Thursday.

Barron assumed her new responsibilities this week.

Former assistant city manager Michael Ilczyszyn was reassigned to Public Works in June.

Community Redevelopment Agency Coordinator Terri Hall will begin acting as economic development manager on Monday.

"In addition, effective August 6, I am placing CRA Coordinator Terri Hall out-of-title to the position of Interim Economic Development Manager. Terri will continue to assist me in managing the CRA," Szerlag said.

Economic Development Director Dana Burnett has accepted a position at Florida Gulf Coast University, Barron said Friday.

Both city positions will be advertised, she said.

"Yes, at some point," Barron said.
