Public’s interest in water quality crisis was grossly underestimated

August 3, 2018
Cape Coral Daily Breeze

To the editor:

I have just returned from trying to attend the Army Corp. of Engineers' information meeting at the Cape Coral Yacht Club.

I had to park a mile away on a side street. When I got to the auditorium 15 minutes ahead of the meeting there were over 200 people waiting outside. After standing there for half an hour I came home. I did not intend to demonstrate or disrupt - I came for information.

You would think the city would schedule this in a larger venue when facing one of the biggest crisis to our city. You would also think they would at least put up outside speakers. You would also hope one of the many city officials there would have the common sense to take a bullhorn from one of the many city vehicles parked there and explain the situation instead of having all the police and fire marshall standing around saying "Wow look at all of these people!"

Very poorly planned, very poorly executed! Thank you Mayor! Thank you Cape Coral!
