And he wants to be your Governor

To the editor:

"As a father, I won't stand by while the NRA turns our kids into targets." Greene says on the mailer.

"Students should be worried about grades, not guns," says Greene, a father of three young sons. "When I send my kids to school, I shouldn't be afraid they'll be killed in their classrooms. No parent should."

And these are the words of promise of Jeff Greene. Nice words; nice promises; but so very unlikely to bear fruit. How would he attempt to fulfill these empty declarations?

First, the NRA. This is an organization created to promote gun safety. If we make an attempt to use Jeff Greene's logic we might say: a good comparison would be to declare that automobile safety organizations promote auto deaths. Absurd! It would be most instructive for us to learn exactly what "magic bullet: (sorry about that!) Mr. Greene would employ. I am waiting, Mr. Greene.

The NRA's mission statement, summarized from its bylaws, is: "To protect and defend the Constitution of the United States, especially with reference to the inalienable right of the individual American citizen guaranteed by such Constitution to acquire, possess, collect, exhibit, transport, carry, transfer ownership of, ...! And Mr. Greene takes exception to this? Really?

I am sure that in his own field of endeavor Mr. Greene is very knowledgeable but he is clearly out of his element in politics. He definitely is not a help to the Democratic Party.

And so, Mr. Greene would bend and twist and rewrite portions of our Constitution to serve his political obsession. He will fail.
