Development at what cost?

July 26, 2018
Cape Coral Daily Breeze

To the editor:

I watched today as a vacant lot with mature loblolly pine trees, sabal palms, and other assorted native vegetation was leveled to build yet another house/duplex. Now the variety of wildlife that made homes there are now gone.

I can't speak for everyone but as a native Floridian residing in Cape Coral, I enjoy the wide open spaces, wildlife, minimal traffic congestion, and a low crime rate. After travelling to the east coast of Florida for just one day, I felt a sigh of relief as I found myself heading west over Alligator Alley.

Trust me when I tell you that you don't want another Miami or Ft. Lauderdale concrete jungle. Just a thought.....
