Home Base Veteran and Family Care to host wake boarding day for local veterans

Home Base Veteran and Family Care will host a family friendly day of wake boarding for local veterans and their families Saturday, July 21, from 9:45 a.m. to 1 p.m., at Revolution Cable Park, 17590 East St., North Fort Myers, FL 33917.

Since its founding in 2009, Home Base, a partnership of the Red Sox Foundation and Massachusetts General Hospital, has been breaking new ground, leading regional and national efforts with a multi-disciplinary team of experts working together to help service members, veterans and their families heal from the invisible wounds: traumatic brain injury, post-traumatic stress and related conditions.

The Southwest Florida arm of Home Base was created to empower local veterans and warriors to take control of their physical well-being, provide tools to help manage stress and provide a portal for more complex care for those in need of treatment for the invisible wounds.

Since inception, Home Base has served more than 15,000 veterans and family members with care and support, trained more than 55,000 clinicians, educators and community members nationally and remains at the forefront of discovering new treatments ensuring a brighter future for the 21st century warrior and military family.
