An opening

To the editor:

So now our President is commanded to nominate shortly a replacement for Supreme Court Justice Kennedy. Over the past 50 years we have been witness to a slow and constant erosion of the values that made these United States unique among the countries of history. The United States has been both the beacon and symbol of hope for countless legal immigrants and governing bodies around the world.

This new vacancy allows us to once again regain our proper direction and reinvigorate the path of success, and meaningful government as the beacon to the world on how to protect and provide for the populations involved. If other world governments provided to their people even a small amount of human consideration, the flood of migration we are now witness to would become a mere trickle. Why? People migrant to a place that they feel safe with the possibility to improve upon their status. Why else would they come?

Our Supreme Court should reflect the spirit of our Constitution by supporting it against any erosion for political purposes. This goes beyond politics. It is the very heart of what is symbolized by the Statue of Liberty, our Constitution and the Bill of Rights.

Once more these hallowed symbols, both statues and mere documents are our foundation and as such should not be manipulated and legally massaged by our Supreme Court!

The person selected by President Donald Trump will carry a most heavy weight upon their shoulders and we must all pray that those shoulders are up to this task.
