Boy certified by Florida Bar

Henderson, Franklin, Starnes & Holt, P.A., has announced that Attorney Suzanne Boy has become Florida Bar board certified in labor and employment law. Certification is the highest level of evaluation by the Florida Bar. Only seven percent of eligible Florida lawyers are board certified.

Boy assists clients with all aspects of employment-related litigation, claims and counseling. She conducts workplace training sessions and speaks to businesses and professional groups on various employment matters.

May passenger numbers jump at Southwest Florida International Airport

During May, 668,665 passengers traveled through Southwest Florida Inter-national Airport in Fort Myers, an increase of 6.3 percent compared to May 2017. Year-to-date, passenger traffic is up 5.4 percent from the same period last year.

The traffic leader in May was Delta Air Lines with 177,028 passengers traveling to and from Fort Myers. Rounding out the top five airlines were Southwest Airlines (142,848), American (107,568), JetBlue (83,980) and United (75,026).

Southwest Florida International Airport had 5,806 aircraft operations, a decrease of 2 percent compared to May 2017. Page Field saw 7,163 operations, a 13.9 percent decrease from May 2017. In addition, more than 2.7 million pounds of air freight moved through Southwest Florida International Airport in May 2018.

VCB welcomes new sales coordinator and visitor services coordinator

Lee County Visitor & Convention Bureau has welcomed Joan Barkowski as its new sales coordinator and Brittany Bremer as its new visitor services coordinator.

Barkowski's role includes promoting The Beaches of Fort Myers & Sanibel to travel agents and potential visitors. She has five years in the hospitality industry, including front office manager, and sales and catering coordinator at hotels in Lee County. Prior to the VCB, she was a client partner in the sales division at Gartner in Fort Myers.

In her roles as a visitor services coordinator, Bremer will be based at Southwest Florida Inter-national Airport. The visitor services team provides information to the traveling public, supports airport customer service initiatives and coordinates community tourism programs such as the Elaine McLaughlin Outstanding Hospitality Service Awards and the Lee County Travel Rally.

Greater Fort Myers Chamber to host annual Mixpo networking event

The Greater Fort Myers Chamber of Commerce will hold its fifth annual Mixpo event, an after-hours mixer and business expo, on June 28 in Fort Myers.

The evening offers op-portunities for participants to network with area professionals and industry leaders, as well as showcase their business to Chamber members and guests.

Mixpo runs from 5-7 p.m. June 28 at the Crowne Plaza Fort Myers at Bell Tower Shops, 13051 Bell Tower Drive in Fort Myers. The cost for Mixpo is $10 for chamber members and $20 for future members.

Tradeshow tables are still available for $175 and include two tickets for attendees. Artisan Eatery burger up for vote in The James Beard Foundation's Blended Burger Project

Artisan Eatery has announced its participation in The James Beard Foundation's Blended Burger Project, a nationwide initiative that challenges chefs to make a "blended burger" by combining ground meat or other protein with finely chopped mushrooms to create a delicious, healthier and more sustainable burger.

Artisan Eatery's co-owner and chef Tim Yoa is joining the initiative by featuring The Forager Burger, available now through July 31. Showcasing a healthier burger option, the burger is made with Jackman wagyu beef, wild Florida boar, local oyster and Maitake mushroom, topped with pickled ramp, Nueske's bacon jam and melted Comt cheese on a black garlic dusted brioche bun, available for $14.

Foodies can vote on their favorite blended burgers and support the Blended Burger Project by:
