Storm Smart ‘Tee Off for Take Off’ event at Coral Oaks rescheduled for Aug. 31

Storm Smart has announced that it is rescheduling its upcoming Tee Off for Take Off golf scramble at Coral Oaks Golf Course. Originally scheduled for June 29, the event will now be held on the Friday before Labor Day, Aug. 31.

"After much consideration and the fact that we have never been busier since Hurricane Irma, we decided to move the event back," said Storm Smart Executive Chairman Brian Rist. "We want to ensure that this is a premier golf event in Southwest Florida and moving it to the Friday before Labor Day allows us a better opportunity to make that happen."

In its first year, Tee Off for Take Off is an extension of the company's efforts to raise funds for Collier-Lee Honor Flight, a non-profit organization that flies local veterans to Washington, D.C., to visit those memorials dedicated to honor their service and sacrifices. In 2017, through its initiative of donating $100 per qualified sale during the month of June, Storm Smart was able to raise nearly $26,000 for the organization.

This year, in addition to the sales initiative, Rist says Storm Smart entered into a partnership with Eastern Metals Supply and the City of Cape Coral to host the Tee Off for Take Off golf scramble at Coral Oaks Golf Course. The goal of adding the new event is to raise enough money to fund an entire flight.

"We want to get as many people involved, do something a little different for us, and raise $80,000," Rist said. "That will cover the expenses to fly nearly 70 veterans to the nation's capital for the day."
