The Bent Brush opens in South Cape

The Bent Brush, a contemporary paint-your-own-pottery "ceramics" and art studio, has opened in South Cape at 1625 S.E. 47th Terrace, Unit 4.

The owners and staff of The Bent Brush have created a spacious, casual and fun atmosphere for creative entertainment. The new business offers pottery painting (ceramics), glass fusing, and clay hand building, clay throwing and silver clay art in classes.

The Bent Brush has a private, and spacious party room that can be reserved for a group of 6 or more painters, and is the perfect place to host your next birthday party, office gathering, team building event, scout meeting, mom's night out, holiday party, bridal shower, baby shower, or any other event.

The Bent Brush's kids classes include Pottery Painting, Clay Hand Building, Glass Fusing (ages 9 and up). Summer camps, and a variety of other seasonal events are also being planned

Attorney establishes Sproat Workplace

Pavese Law Firm partners earn Florida Bar board certification

Four partners with Pavese Law Firm in Fort Myers, Christopher Shields, Steven Hartsell, Charles Mann, and Charles Capps, were recently cognized by the Florida Bar with board certification in condominium and planned development law. Board certification requires a rigorous application process and examination, and is the highest level of evaluation by the Florida Bar for the skills, special knowledge, proficiency, professionalism and ethics in condominium and planned development law.

In addition, Shields, Mann and Capps are also Florida Bar board certified real estate attorneys. They are three of only 21 attorneys in Florida to hold this dual distinction.

"Condominium and planned development law" is the practice of law in which an attorney serves as counsel to community associations, developers, property owners and investors; drafts governing documents and prepares planned development documents; collects past-due assessments; represents associations and developers in litigation, arbitration and mediation matters; and assists in the planning, development, construction and financing of condominium or other planned development communities.

Shields specializes in subdivision, master-planned residential, commercial and mixed-use communities, and provides legal counsel to developers, builders, community associations and lenders. He joined Pavese Law Firm in 1984 and became a partner in 1990.

Storm Smart names Boland as CEO

Storm Smart, and its parent company, The Smart Companies have named John Patrick Boland as chief executive officer for both companies.

With his appointment, former CEO and founder of Storm Smart and The Smart Companies Brian Rist will now serve as the Executive Chairman of The Smart Companies.

Boland comes to the company with an impressive resume that includes a 20+ year career in the United States Marines Corps where he served both domestically and abroad, including multiple combat tours in Iraq during Operation Iraqi Freedom. He retired from the U.S. Marines Corps Reserves as a lieutenant colonel.

Most recently, he served as executive director for the Lee County Economic Development Office. Previously, Boland served as vice president, Strategy & Business Development for Hertz Equipment Rentals.

Before moving to Southwest Florida, he held a number of senior executive roles around the globe including vice president and general manager, IDEX Asia Pacific, Shanghai, China.
