No more excuses

To the editor:

With the midterm elections at our door step, I thought it would be prudent to have a discussion about an ancient concept our modern day society seems to have no more use for, especially in the political arena. This concept was, at one point in our distant past, the rock solid foundation of our entire relationship with one another. It was so important to the ancients, the Bible even devoted some print to it, that being John8:32. "And you will know the truth and the truth will set you free." The concept of the truth made its way into our court system with the pledge of a witness, "I promise that the testimony I am about to give is the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth. So help me God.

I do believe one the greatest blunders in modern day history is what our country as a whole have done to this life blood of our great society. This demise of trust in one and another starts as young children, with the fairy tale of a "little white lie." It ends with the headline in today's paper "Trump calls ex-FBI director an 'untruthful slime ball.'" This is coming from our President, the guy that out of 320 million people is the best we could come up with as our leader. The right has even come up with what they seem to think justifies their point of view and all of the lies their leader tell on a daily basis, it's called the "alternative truth." Well, I'm here to shout out to one and all, there's no such thing as "alternative truth." The truth is the truth period. No BS substitutions, no politician talking their way around an honest question. Like Sargent Jack Webb used to say, "Just the facts lady, just the facts."

Now, I've got a challenge for all of my friends on the right. Since it has become a commonly known fact of life for the last two years that Donald Trump is a pathological liar and it does not seem likely he will be changing his sinful ways anytime soon, I would be extremely interested to hear why you, or any other human on the face of this earth, justify why we should believe one thing that comes out of this "untruthful slime ball's" mouth? Why should we give him a mulligan, or a "let Trump be Trump," or all of the other weak-kneed Republicans who make up all of the excuses that let him off the hook on a daily basis. Would you raise your children using this individual as an example for them to live by?

Not me.

Not in a hundred years.

Impeach now or forever hold your peace.
