Final results announced from 22nd Annual LCEC United Way Fishing Tournament

LCEC has announced that more than $56,000 was raised at the 22nd Annual LCEC United Way Fishing Tournament held April 21, on Pine Island.

All proceeds from this fishing tournament will be donated to the United Way of Lee, Hendry, Glades & Okeechobee Counties.

Congratulations to the winner of the grand slam, Matlacha Fishing Charters, with a total weight of 21.84 pounds.

The Matlacha Fishing Charters team captured three awards in the 22nd Annual LCEC United Way Fishing Tourna-ment — grand slam (snook, trout, snapper), heaviest trout and heaviest snapper.

Matlacha Fishing Charters also topped the list with the heaviest trout, 5.92 pounds, and the heaviest snapper, 1.66 pounds.

Other winners included Team Knee Deep, who recorded the largest snook, 9.88 pounds; and Team Honc Docks & Lifts, with the heaviest redfish, 7.58 pounds.

The results - by the numbers - are: 250 raffle prizes, 236 anglers, 75 boats, 44 silent auction items, 18 snapper, 15 redfish, 9 snook and 5 Grand Slams weighed in.
