Maranatha School of Dance & the Arts gives back with two community outreaches on May 5

May 25, 2018
Cape Coral Daily Breeze

Maranatha School of Dance & the Arts performed at two outreaches in Cape Coral and North Fort Myers on Saturday, May 5. The service days were led by the studio's Momentum Dance Company, a group of dedicated dancers who serve as leaders and share their faith through dance and personal interaction in the community. The studio partnered with Crosspoint Christian Church for the event.

The Senior and Petite Companies performed for residents of Gulf Coast Village in Cape Coral. The Junior and Teen Companies provided a hip hop workshop for kids in the Barrett Park/Pine Echo community in North Fort Myers. They also led them in games and performed dances in several genres, including jazz and lyrical.

According to studio director Amy Payne, "Momentum members are held to high standards and are expected to serve as leaders and set a positive example. Extensive technique classes and company rehearsals emphasize the importance of excellence in dance training as well as in personal character."

Amy and husband Andrew Payne became the new owners of Maranatha in July 2016 when founding director Paula Himschoot retired. The Paynes have developed a set of core values for the studio that they continually strive to exceed. These values serve as the foundation for teachers, staff and Maranatha families and are framed on the walls throughout the studio. "Give Back to Our Community," "All Children Have God-Given Worth," and "Age-Appropriate Choreography and Costumes" are just a few.

Maranatha is a More Than Just Great Dancing-affiliated studio with classes offered in ballet, jazz, lyrical, tap, acro and hip hop. The Music & Arts Center offers classes in piano, guitar, ukulele, and kids' arts classes. The studio is located at 822 Del Prado Blvd. S., Cape Coral.
