Todd Truax understands Florida’s need for clean water

To the editor:

I can live without a lot of things, but fresh, clean, potable water is not one of them. Keeping our water supply clean should be our State's No. 1 goal. Indeed it should be the goal for the entire country. We need it to drink, to grow crops, to raise livestock.

Florida has a fragile relationship with sea water. If the sea water mixes with our fresh water we get brackish water. We can't drink it. We can't grow vegetables in it.

We must do everything to protect our fresh water sources. All of us know the panicky feeling we get during hurricane season. Do I have enough fresh water to weather the storm?

The most important thing about the water discharging from Lake O is that it needs to be cleaned, so it doesn't kill the sea grasses, the fish, and our tourism industry along our beaches.

Join me to send Todd Truax to the U.S. Congress. He understands our environment depends on clean water to support the lifestyle we all came to Southwest Florida to enjoy. He will fight to be sure we get the maximum federal support our state needs to address these issues, especially right here in SWFL's District 19.
