Cape Coral Daily Breeze



Cape Coral 16, SWFL Christian 2 (4): Tara Stiggow was 3-for-3 with two RBI, Peyton Helton 2-for-4 with three RBI, and Rachel Manes was 2-for-3 with two RBI. Avery Mytnik struck out eight batters in four innings. The Seahawks (10-8) after their win against SW Florida Christian (6-10), are home against Island Coast on Tuesday.

Lehigh 8, Ida Baker 4: Lehigh (8-9) scored four times in the sixth inning to break a 4-all tie, going on to the victory. Ida Baker (9-9) is at home Tuesday for a district game with Cypress Lake.

Cape Coral 10, Cypress Lake 0 (5): Avery Mytnik struck out 12 to earn the pitching win for Cape (9-8, 4-6 District 6A-11), and also went 1-for-3 with two RBI at the plate. Rachel Manes was 4-for-4 and Hannah Jeleniowski 2-for-3 with an RBI. The Seahawks play Southwest Florida Christian on Monday.

Ida Baker 8, Island Coast 7: Ida Baker picked up its first victory of the season. The Bulldogs (1-17, 1-0 District 6A-11) rallied with four runs in the bottom of the seventh to beat Island Coast (7-10, 4-6). Natalie Sibert went 2-for-4 with two doubles, three RBI and a run scored for the Gators, while Kalyn Dunn was 2-fo-4 with two RBI and a run scored.

Bishop Verot 8, Palmetto Ridge 0; Bishop Verot 16, Gulf Coast 0: The Vikings (11-7) picked up two wins Friday in the Bill Longshore Memorial Tournament in Naples.


Island Coast 1, Ida Baker 0: Josh Morales doubled in Aderlynn Cubilete with the night's only run in the seventh inning. Morales also pitched a three-hit shutout, striking out seven Bulldogs. It was revenge for Island Coast's first and only district loss of the season. Island Coast (12-4, 7-1) fell to Ida Baker (9-8, 3-5) 8-7 on Tuesday at home.

Cape Coral 1, Cypress Lake 0: Allen Guerrero doubled in Matt McDade in the first inning, and the Seahawks made that run stand up. McDade pitched a two-hit shutout, striking out nine and walking two. Cape Coral (13-4, 8-2 District 6A-11) is a game behind Island Coast in the standings. Cypress Lake is 10-6, 5-3.

Oasis 12, First Baptist Academy 1 (4): Dennis Talarico improved to 6-1 on the season, holding FBA to a run on five hits over five innings. Talarico also was 3-for-3 with two doubles, three RBI and a run scored. Patrick Picciolo drove in three for the Sharks, Ben Castro was 2-for-3, scored a run and had two RBI, Christian Valdes was 2-for-3 with two RBI and two runs scored, Frankie Haba scored three runs, and Trey Siciliano hit his first homer of the season. The Sharks (12-4, 3-1 District 4A-5) travel to Bishop Verot for a district game on Tuesday.

Orlando Bishop Moore 8, Bishop Verot 2: The Vikings (6-10) fell to host team Bishop Moore (20-3) in the championship game of the Catholic Challenge in Orlando.

Mariner 7, North Fort Myers 3: The Tritons put up three runs in the fifth inning to break a 3-all tie, going on to the District 6A-11 victory. Jaylen Youngs was 2-for4, stole a base, scored twice and drove in a run for Mariner (7-9, 4-6), while Gavin Walker had two RBI and Wade Williamson also drove in a run. Donnie Goodman pitched the first four innings for the win, while Louis Alberro worked three scoreless innings of relief. North Fort Myers slipped to 9-9, 5-7. Mariner travels to Port Charlotte on Tuesday for a district game, while North is home against non-district foe East Lee County.



Snellville (Ga.) South Gwinnett 4, Island Coast 3: The visiting Comets (13-10) scored all four of their runs in the bottom of the seventh inning to defeat the Gators. Julio Castro was 3-for-3 at the plate with two RBI for Island Coast (11-5), while Chase Chatman went 2-for-4 with a double. The Gators will try to snap a two-game losing streak Friday at Ida Baker.

Bishop Verot 8, Miami Belen Jesuit 1: The Vikings (6-9) picked up their second win in the Catholic Challenge being held at Bishop Moore High School in Orlando.

Mariner 7, Oasis 0: The Tritons improved to 12-4 with two matches remaining in the regular season. Thursday's results: Teddy Perchall (M) d. Sebastian Stockbridge 6-2, 6-3; Andrew Kibler (M) d. Sage Keesler 6-1, 6-0; Hayden Wiseley (M) d. Robbie 6-4, 6-1; Yeni Win (M) d. Dale Saccone 6-0, 6-2; Brandon King (M) d. Andrew Wells 6-0, 6-0; Doubles: Kibler/Wiseley (M) d.
