Catholics Returning Home program under way at St. Katharine Drexel

No matter how long you have been away and no matter what the reason, Catholics Returning Home invites you to consider renewing your relationship with the Catholic Church.

Please join in for informal listening sessions and an update of the Catholic faith.

The sessions began Monday, April 2, at 7 p.m., and run through May 7. The group meets in the St. Katharine Drexel Faith Formation Building, 1922 S.W. 20th Ave., Cape Coral.

First Baptist Church of Pine Island to hold prayer serves for Pine Island Elementary students, staff

In light of the recent events in regards to schools these days, First Baptist Church of Pine Island will be hosting an all island prayer service for Pine Island Elementary School on Sunday, April 8, at 5 p.m.

Many on the island know and appreciate all that our school does to enrich the lives of our students not only academically, but also enforcing strong character development.

First Baptist Church of Pine Island would like to take this opportunity to pray for the teachers, staff and students, to take a moment out of our day to pray for their lives, their families and their safety. Both Mr. Hook and teachers will be taking part in this event, and the church is excited to see hope arise out this time together.

First Baptist Church of Pine Island is located at 5363 Avenue D., Bokeelia, in The Center across from Pine Island Elementary School.

Church of God Prophecy in Bokeelia to hold chicken dinner April 14

The Church of God Prophecy, Bokeelia,will host a chicken dinner Saturday, April 14, from 1-5 p.m. The cost for the meal is $8.

The dinner will feature fried chicken, mashed potatoes with gravy, a choice of green beans or corn, roll, drink and choice of dessert (chocolate cake, pecan pie, coconut cake or apple pie.)

Lee County OFA Indivisible to host panel discussion at Unitarian Universalist Church

Lee County OFA Indivisible will be holding a panel discussion on Maintaining a Free and Unbiased Press - "Stop the Presses: Are Journalists Still Relevant."

The session will be held Thursday, April 12, at the Unitarian Universalist Church, 13411 Shire Lane, Fort Myers. A social period begins at 6:30 p.m. with the panel discussion at 7 p. m.

Lee County OFA Indivisible (leeofaindivisible @gmail.com) invites the public to bring questions and concerns about this important and timely issue to be addressed by knowledgeable journalists.

The panel includes:

Dr. Robert Hilliard, a Sanibel resident, Purple Heart recipient, witness to Fascism and saved lives of thousands of Holocaust survivors. He is a journalist who has also worked in radio, T.V. and theater. Many of his 35 books and 20-plus plays deal with political and social issues.

Roger Williams, who currently writes for the Florida Weekly. He is an award-winning journalist who won the Jon A. Roosenraad Award for defense of the 1st Amendment.
