Cape Historical Society’s annual open house Tuesday

April 6, 2018
Cape Coral Daily Breeze

The Cape Coral Historical Society has added a new feature for its annual open house this year - real people!

While the event, to be held April 10, from 2:30-4 p.m., will highlight the many exhibits at the Cape Coral Historical Museum, Tuesday's gathering will also include early residents of the city who will tell their tales and answer questions about the community's past.

Scheduled to be on hand are Pat Emerson, Elmer Tabor, Anna "Boots" Tolles, Anne and Dennis Duffala and Robert Phillips.

This year is the 60th anniversary of the Cape Coral community - founders Jack and Leonard Rosen broke ground in 1957 to begin their dream of building a waterfront wonderland in Southwest Florida. This season, the Historical Society's meetings have focused on the theme of the early days of Cape Coral.

Tuesday's meeting is the last for the 2017-2018 season.

The Cape Coral Historical Museum is at 544 Cultural Park Blvd. Residents and visitors can stop by for a tour Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., and Saturday, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Tours are $5 for adults and students are free.
