Following one of the most decorated careers in program history, FGCU redshirt senior Brandon Goodwin has been selected to participate in the inaugural 3X3U National Championship during Final Four Weekend in San Antonio.

This new event pits 32 four-man teams consisting of players from every Division I basketball conference against each other in a three-day, 3-on-3 tournament. These teams, comprised of seniors who have exhausted their collegiate eligibility, will compete for a $100,000 prize pool broadcast live on Twitter and ESPN2 this weekend at Division II St. Mary's University's Bill Greehey Arena in San Antonio.

The 2018 ASUN Player of the Year, Goodwin is joined on the ASUN Conference team by Divine Myles from Stetson, Nick Master-son from Kennesaw State and USC Upstate's Ramel Thompkins.

The 3X3U National Champion-ship will begin on Friday, March 30, with 24 pool-play games streamed live on Twitter ( from 7 p.m. to 12:30 a.m. and will continue on Saturday, March 31, with another 24 pool-play games streamed live on Twitter from 11 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Eastern. The 3X3U National Champion-ship Player Selection Committee consisted of college basketball experts from a wide range of media outlets including ESPN, CBS Sports, The Athletic, USA Today, NBC Sports, The Ringer and more.

A UCF transfer, Goodwin was named the unanimous ASUN Newcomer of the Year last season, and followed it up by becoming just the second FGCU product to be named ASUN Player of the Year, joining Sherwood Brown in 2013. Additionally, The Norcross High School product became the first player in program history to be named a two-time NABC District 3 First Team selection.

The Norcross, Ga., native led FGCU in points (18.6), rebounds (5.5) and assists (4.8) - one of only eight players nationally who paced his team in all three categories. The 6-2 guard ranked second in the ASUN in scoring, third in assists, ninth in steals (1.4) and 12th in rebounding - the only player in the league to rank in the top 12 in all four categories.

With 632 points in 34 games, Goodwin surpassed his own single-season program record of 629 points established last year in the same amount of contests. He also broke his own single-season D-I program record for free throws made (144; previous: 136 last year).

In league games, the two-time ASUN Player of the Week this year ranked fourth in scoring (19.6), fourth in steals (1.7), fifth in assists (4.6) and eighth in rebounding (6.1) - once again the only player to rank in the top 10 in all four categories. Goodwin, who had four double-doubles on the year, also ranked eighth in ASUN games in field goal percentage (.538), and finished the regular season by posting scoring performances of 28, 28 and 27 points. He delivered a then D-I program record 34-point performance in the ASUN Final - a total surpassed in the same game by Zach Johnson.

Despite playing just two years with FGCU, Goodwin's name is plastered all over the program's all-time record book, including: points (seventh, 1,261), assists (fifth, 301), field goals made (eighth, 442), field-goal percentage (seventh, .490) and free throws made (third, 280).
