FCC’s proposed regulation change will hurt businesses and consumers

To the editor:

I am concerned about the new bill proposed by FCC Chairman Ajit Pai which will change FCC regulation of Internet Service Providers (ISPs) from being under Title II regulation to being under Title I regulation.

Moving regulation from Title II to Title I is destructive to the websites and businesses that will be served through these ISPs and it is destructive to the consumer as the already powerful and controlling ISPs will only be granted more power and more control.

Without being under the regulations enforced by Title II, ISPs will be able to throttle connection speeds of competing websites, force customers and businesses to pay a premium on top of regular costs to have usable service, and will be able to implement many other anti-consumer practices that are not currently allowed under Title II.

We need our elected officials to speak up for us. We need them to make the choice that's in our best interest. We need Title II for Net Neutrality to exist and to maintain a free and open internet.
