Spend the money to protect students and educators

March 2, 2018
Cape Coral Daily Breeze

To the editor

I just read The Breeze and I am sick and tired of all these people talking about gun control. Gun control is not the immediate answer. If you are so concerned about protecting our schools, then take action. This is not a hard problem to solve.

Until every crazy is eliminated, what can be done is to harden the schools from being a target. Not a new concept. When will people realize this is not a federal problem, it is up to the local school districts to protect the students.

Yes, it will cost money, but would you rather have the students and school personnel protected or just ignore the problem and fight for your raise? The raise does not mean much if you not here to collect it because you voted not to have protection for all concerned. It seems to me that rather than being selfish, it is a matter for all to get their act together, including the school boards.

Stop the nonsense about needing more money for this and that but not for protecting the students.
