Monday report


Cape Coral 17, South Fort Myers 2 (3): Freshman Rachel Manes was 3-for-3 with three runs score and two RBI for Cape, while junior Tara Stiggow was 2-for-2 with three runs and three RBI; senior Jesse Bachman was 2-for-3 with two RBI, and freshman Peyton Helton was 3-for-3 with three RBI. The Seahawks (2-1) are home Tuesday against North Fort Myers.

Oasis 8, Lehigh 6: Seniors led the way for Oasis (2-1). Peyton Palmer drove in four runs for the Sharks, Lewis Evans scored twice and had two RBI, Dennis Talarico was 2-for-3 with an RBI and Nick Oliveira was 2-for-3 with a run scored. Justin Brooks (1-0) pitched six innings for the win, with Talarico finishing up for a save. Oasis faces Golden Gate on Tuesday at the Cape Coral Sports Complex.

Ida Baker 17, Estero 2 (4): Junior Joe Mixon was 3-for-3 with a three-run homer, two singles, a walk and four RBI as the Bulldogs rolled to the win. Junior Alex Rios doubled, scored and drove in two runs; sophomore Mac Moise doubled, walked and scored twice; and sophomore AJ Marinello had three RBI and scored twice. Junior Liam Perry got the win with two innings of work, allowing a run on one hit. Senior Spencer Qurollo pitched the last two innings, allowing a run on a hit and striking out two.

Saturday report


Regional tournaments: Mariner's Christian Minto and North Fort Myers's Adolphus Taylor won regional wrestling championships on Saturday. The following wrestlers qualified for state tournaments with their performance in regionals:

Region 2A-3 at Charlotte: 106 pounds: Caleb Massari, North Fort Myers, third place; 160: Christian Minto, Mariner, first place; 170: Dorgoan Benbow-Boyd, Island Coast, second place; 220: Justyn Cordones, Mariner, third place; 285: Adolphus Taylor, North Fort Myers, first place.

Region 1A-3 at Lemon Bay: 170: Alex Sacramento, Oasis, fourth place.

Friday report


Island Coast 18, Cypress Lake 10: The Gators (2-2, 1-0 District 6A-11) won a wild one against Cypress Lake. With Island Coast up 9-7 entering the sixth inning, the Panthers put up three runs to take a 10-9 lead. The Gators responded with a nine-run rally in the bottom of the sixth to put the game away, Emily Beesing was 3-for-4 for the Gators and drove in two runs, while Jarianna Gonzalez hit a two-run homer and Rachel Petrolus had a three-run triple and four RBI in all.

Port Charlotte 9, Ida Baker 2: The Bulldogs scored the first and last runs of the game, but Port Charlotte scored nine in between and handed Ida Baker the loss.

Oasis 18, Southwest Florida Christian 3 (3): The Sharks evened their record at 2-2 with a dominating win against SFCA. A 15-run third inning brought the game to an early conclusion.

Lely 2, Mariner 1: The Trojans pushed across a run in the bottom of the seventh to nip Mariner. Yasmine Halaby went 2-for-3 for the Tritons (2-4). Hannah Holloway gave up one earned run and struck out 12, but suffered the loss on the mound.

Tampa Catholic 1, Bishop Verot 0: The Vikings (4-1) were shut out in Tampa for their first defeat of the season.


Island Coast 11, South Fort Myers 1 (5): Brock Balsley went 2-for-2 with three RBI and Chase Chatman had an RBI double to lead the Gators. The winning pitcher was Jordan Dence, who allowed just two hits and one run in going give innings with three strikeouts. Island Coast faces Mariner at home on Tuesday in its district opener.

SWFL Christian 13, Oasis 1 (5): SFCA scored 12 runs in the first three innings to down the Sharks (1-1). Trey Siciliano had a hit for Oasis. Steven Salamida took the loss on the mound.

North Fort Myers 8, Port Charlotte 0: The Red Knights are 4-0, 2-0 in District 6A-11 after completing a two-game sweep of the Pirates.(0-4, 0-2).

Palmetto Ridge 1, Ida Baker 0: In a non-district game, the host Bears held off Ida Baker to level each team's record at 1-1.

Girls tennis

Ida Baker 4, Riverdale 2: Mirand Persaud (R) d. MaryJo Ellis 6-4, 6-4; Ashleigh Lucas (R) d. Paxton Guerin 6-4, 6-2; Kaley Schultz (IB) d. Sephora Privat 6-4, 6-3; Jensen Diggs (IB) d. Dominique Berrett 6-1, 6-1; Camilla Bonaparte (IB) d. Carolina Boitel 6-0, 6-0. Doubles: Ellis/Bonaparte (IB) d. Persaud/Privat 8-2. Second doubles ccd. due to darkness.

Thursday report


Bishop Verot 3, North Fort Myers 2: The Vikings (4-0) came out on top in a game where all five runs were unearned. North Fort Myers stranded 11 runners. Emma Johnson had three hits and drove in both Red Knights (3-1) runs. Johnson was the losing pitcher despite giving up only three hits and striking out five.

Mariner 16, Southwest Florida Christian 1: Alexis Baker and Georgia Waddell each had two hits, and Baker struck out six SFCA batters to earn the pitching win.

Lemon Bay 7, Ida Baker 3: The Manta Rays (4-1) completed a season sweep of the Bulldogs (0-5).


Oasis 10, Sarasota Christian 4: Oasis won its season opener. Trey Siciliano was 3-for-4 with three runs scored and two RBI for the Sharks, and Jake Hadden was 3-for-3 with three RBI and three runs scored for the Sharks. Dennis Talaraco pitched six innings for Oasis, giving up one run on four hits with six strikeouts. He also went 3-for-4 at the plate.
