Budweiser Clydesdales, Taste of North Fort Myers, coming to the Shell Factory & Nature Park

The death of owner Tom Cronin has those who knew and worked with him grieving but they know one thing: He would want his work to go on.

To that end, the Shell Factory will proceed with events planned for this week.

The Budweiser Clydesdales will be at the Shell Factory from 1 to 4 p.m. today.

The entire team of eight will come to get hitched up and ride down the center parking lot, creating an excellent photo-op for anyone who comes.

Rick Tupper, marketing director and CFO of the Shell Factory, said the Shell Factory is the No. 1 stop for the local distributor.

"They've been planning on getting the Clydesdales here for a long time. We finally got on the calendar for being one of their biggest clients," Tupper said.

The horses will get hitched in the front parking lot and will come through the center parking lot, were there will be a viewing area for people who want to take photos.

There will be vendors, including the Gulf Coast Fudge Co., as well as entertainment following the event at 4 p.m.

"It's a great time, the people are looking forward to it, and it's another event to bring people to the Shell Factory," Tupper said.

On Sunday, the North Fort Myers Chamber of Commerce will present the sixth annual Taste of North Fort Myers from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.. The event is one of the big fundraisers of the year along with the new Calvin Peete Golf Classic.

The Giacalone Realty Team will sponsor, as well as the North Fort Myers Neighbor, Ellsworth Heating & Cooling, H.W. Horticulture and the Seminole Casino.

Lenny Cannova, president of the chamber, said there are 11 food vendors and 13 business vendors signed up, as well as a live band.

"The best thing about the event this year is that the Shell Factory has moved it up from April to February so we can get some of the snowbirds and get a bigger crowd," Cannova said. "I think we'll have a great turnout. Admission is free and it will be a great time."

While the Shell Factory provides the venue, they are hoping for a bigger crowd as a way to support the Chamber, which they are part of and also rents space out to them.

"We like to help the chamber, which is why we do it. We also hope people come and enjoy everything we have to offer," Tupper said. "It's gotten bigger every year."
