Cape resident opens Moe's Hot Dogs in Fort Myers

Moe's Hot Dogs is now open in the parking lot of the Pizzando Lobo nightclub at 2649 Fowler Street in Fort Myers. Owned by Cape Coral resident, the Chicago-style hot dog cart is open from 10:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., Monday through Friday.

"My hot dog cart is not just any hot dog cart, but a unique gas powered three-wheel tricycle Cushman truckster that was once used by a police officer in Chicago to issue tickets," Moe said.

Moe's Hot Dogs offers all beef, no casing hot dogs, along with Polish, brats and Maxwell sausages, all steam cooked and loaded with mustard, onions, neon green relish, sports peppers, tomatoes, pickle spears and celery salt. Chips and soft drinks can also be added to your meal.

New Pedego Electric Bikes store opens in Fort Myers

The 116th Pedego Electric Bikes store worldwide is now open in Fort Myers. Co-owned by husband-and-wife team Lisa and Skip Badolato, Pedego Fort Myers offers sales of Pedego electric bikes as well as rentals, tours, service and sales of accessories. The couple left their Wall Street jobs and moved to Fort Myers to open the region's first Pedego store. They will also offer free test rides.

There will be a grand opening and ribbon-cutting ceremony with refreshments at the new business at 2030 W. First St., Suite E, Fort Myers, Friday, March 2 at 11 a.m. The grand opening celebration will continue Saturday, March 3 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

There will be free test rides, free group rides (subject to bike availability), free raffle tickets for two tickets to a Boston Red Sox spring training game for anyone who takes a test ride on Friday or Saturday and a raffle for a Pedego gift basket.

Southwest Florida International Airport reports increase in traffic in January

During January, 965,981 passengers traveled through Southwest Florida International Airport in Fort Myers, Fla., an increase of 8.2 percent compared to January 2017.

The traffic leader in January was Southwest Airlines with 180,817 passengers traveling to and from Fort Myers. Rounding out the top five airlines were Delta Air Lines (172,258), American (126,502), Spirit (113,804) and Frontier (111,900).

Southwest Florida International Airport had 9,266 aircraft operations, an increase of 2.8 percent compared to January 2017. Page Field saw 8,437 operations, a 9.5 percent decrease from January 2017. In addition, more than 2.7 million pounds of air freight moved through Southwest Florida International Airport in January.
