North Fort Myers Tractor Supply donates 55 bags of pet food

The Tractor Supply Co. store in North Fort Myers is donating 55 bags of pet food to feed dogs and cats in need of adoption.

"More often than not, animal shelters and rescues depend greatly on food donations to support the pets they take in that await adoption," said Adolfo Lopez, manager of the North Fort Myers Tractor Supply store. "Our goal at Tractor Supply is to do our part in helping adoption efforts in our community because we know that pets are more than just dogs and cats, they are family."

Tractor Supply presented the pet food donation to the Lee County Sheriff's Office cell dog program

2018 advisory board set for Blessings in a Backpack

A dozen entrepreneurs, community leaders and experts in their fields have teamed up to fight childhood hunger in Southwest Florida.

The 2018 advisory board for Blessings in a Backpack carries a wealth of professional and philanthropic experience into the effort to feed the 60,000 local elementary school students who struggle to get the food they need over the weekend.

Blessings in a Backpack steps up where federal aid stops by feeding children on the weekend. Every Friday afternoon, children receive packages filled with kid-friendly, ready-to-eat, nutritious food items. Stu-dents return every Monday morning with a full stomach and an eager mind. In partnership with Lee and Collier county schools, the program has helped improve test scores, reading skills, behavior and general health.
