FSW men’s team wins 12th straight

Four players scored in double figures as the No. 5 FSW men's basketball team won its 12th straight game, defeating St. Petersburg, 91-75, on Monday night.

The Buccaneers, who are ranked No. 2 in the FCSAA NJCAA Region 8 Men's Basketball Coaches' Poll, move to 22-1 on the season (6-0 Suncoast Conference), while the Titans fall to 11-12 overall and 3-3 in conference play.

Sophomore Tremell Murphy led the Bucs with a game-high 27 points on 10-of-19 shooting from the floor and 7-of-10 from the charity stripe. He also added nine boards and a pair of steals in the win.

Sophomore Anthony Murphy finished with 15 points and four re-bounds, while sophomore ShanQuan Hemphill chipped in with 12 points and three boards. Freshman Maddox Daniels finished with 12 points (4-of-7 from three-point range) and sophomore Russell Daniels add nine points, four rebounds and a pair of assists.

The Bucs are back in action today, Jan. 31 when they travel to Winter Haven, Fla., to face Polk State in Suncoast Conference action. Tip-off is scheduled for 7 p.m.
