January 1, 2018
Cape Coral Daily Breeze

The eastbound lanes of the Midpoint Memorial Bridge leading into Fort Myers have been reopened to traffic after being closed down due to a fatal, single passenger motorcycle accident.

Both lanes were closed shortly after noon as police and emergency crews cleared the lanes and conducted an investigation.

The identity of the victim is being withheld until next of kin are notified.

"A high rate of speed is suspected to be the cause of the incident and investigation is continuing," a late-afternoon release from the Fort Myers Police Department states, adding additional details will be released as they are determined by the Fort Myers Police Department and assisting agencies.
