The Broken Shell Gallery and Boutique has opened in Cape Coral at 1019 Cape Coral Parkway, East. In announcing the opening of the gallery, owner Gina Lynne Turek said she is fulfilling her dream of owning a gallery where she can display and promote local artists.

There are currently 25 artists featured at the gallery, displaying watercolor, oil, pencil and ink and acrylic paintings; copper and seashell sculptures; fine art photography; wood collages and more.

A local author also has a display in the gallery.

"We are always looking for new artists," said Turek, who encourages artists of all mediums to stop by and consider joining the new gallery.

In addition to the art, the shop is also an upscale boutique with a variety of unique items - palm frond creations, jewelry, handbags, handmade soaps, body scrubs and candles, ceramics and pottery.

And for the holiday season, there is a Christmas room with handmade ornaments and decorations that will be displayed year-round.

The boutique also features an "Estate Room," with an extensive Beatles collection, a Star Trek collection, Lord of the Rings items, vintage porcelain and china dolls, signed Christian Steinbach nutcrackers, an array of North American Character bears and signed prints by James Christensen, Robert Kennedy, Bev Doolittle and others.

Turek said Broken Shell Gallery and Boutique will be offering a full schedule of classes, taught by her and other artists, starting in January. The classes will include individual art instruction, "Make and Take" art, decorative wine glasses, beaded art and more.

Saturday morning children's art workshops are also planned.

A grand opening celebration for the gallery and boutique on Saturday, Jan. 20, from 5-8 p.m. The event is open to the public and an opportunity for residents and guests to stop by and meet the artists.

Regular hours are Tuesday and Wednesday, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.; Thursday and Friday, 10 a.m. to 8 pm.; and Saturday, noon to 8 p.m. It will be closed Sunday and Monday.
