Cape Coral police responded to an apparent murder-suicide over the weekend.

At about 9:30 a.m. Saturday, officers responded to a call for service at 5232 S.W. Ninth Place, according to officials. When police arrived, they discovered Madonna Pierce-McGuire, 50, and Jason W. McGuire, 47, dead inside of the home.

Additional officers, detectives and personnel responded. Officials reported that the preliminary investigation indicated that it was a murder-suicide. It appeared that Jason W. McGuire shot Madonna Pierce-McGuire and then shot himself.

On Nov. 30, Jason W. McGuire was arrested by the Cape Coral Police Department for domestic violence aggravated assault; Madonna Pierce-McGuire was the victim, according to police.

As a result of the arrest, there was a no-contact order or restraining order in place.

The investigation is ongoing.
