December 7, 2017
By TIFFANY REPECKI (trepecki@breezenewspapers.com) , Cape Coral Daily Breeze

Get into the holiday spirit next week with Cultural Park Theatre's annual production.

"Spectacular Christmas Revue" will kick off Wednesday at 8 p.m. Additional performances will take place Thursday and Friday at 8 p.m., as well as Dec. 16 at 3 p.m. and 8 p.m. and Dec. 17 at 3 p.m.

The show is directed by Michael Moran, executive director.

"'Spectacular Christmas Revue' is probably one of Cultural Park Theatre's most popular shows," he said, noting that the format is the same as last year. "It's a fresh script that we write every year."

"We're very into Christmas and we're a very family-oriented venue," Moran added.

Each production includes comedy skits and routines and ends with a heart-warming finale.

"The storylines usually include a family that is having an in-house crisis during the Christmas season," he said. "As the show progresses, they work through the crisis they are facing."

Moran emphasized that the shows are comedies.

"They're light-weight," he said. "They end with a very happy ending."

Along with holiday jingles, the productions incorporate pop songs and Broadway tunes.

"We tie them into the storyline that runs through the show," Moran said.

This year's cast will consist of 46 people.

"So it's a very large, Broadway-stage Christmas revue," he said.

"Santa Claus, himself, is playing a major role in the show this year," Moran added.

In the theater's lobby, attendees will be able to enjoy homemade cookies and refreshments.

"Santa Claus is definitely going to be visiting with all the children," he said.

Families will be able to take photos with Santa.

"The theater is decked out in holiday style," Moran said.

Last year's production had a sold-out run.

As of Thursday, the Sunday afternoon show had sold out.

"The other ones are nearing sold-out status, so we encourage people to get tickets early," he said.

Tickets are $21 for adults, $18 for seniors, $15 for students with a student identification and $10 for children under the age of 12. Group rates are available for groups that have 10 or more people.

"If they've not seen it before, and they want to really go and see a show that will bring a smile to their face and a tear to their eye at the same time, they couldn't see a better show," Moran said.
