Rodriguez pitches shutout as Tritons win 8th straight

The Tritons remained perfect at 8-0-0 this season behind a five-save shutout by Antony Rodriguez Wednesday night. Leo Perez, Santiago Guerrero, TJ McKay and Ignacio Velardez scored for Mariner. North Port fell to 1-4. Next up for the Tritons is a showdown at archrival Cape Coral (6-0-1) on Friday.

Boys basketball

Oasis 78, South Fort Myers 67: For the second game in a row, the Sharks had five players score in double figures. Leading the way was junior Taylor Hutchins with 20 points, 10 rebounds, seven assists and three blocks. Senior Casey had 15 points, 12 rebounds and four blocks, while junior Kylar Frias scored 15 points, sophomore Kyle Bethel scored 12 and junior Vlad Dorlys had 10 points and seven rebounds.

Oasis (2-0, 1-0) plays at Gateway Charter on Friday in a District 5A-10 contest. South Fort Myers is 0-2.

Girls basketball

Golden Gate 38, Oasis 21: Oasis (1-2), a Class 5A school, found the going tough against the Class 7A Titans of Golden Gate. Aliyah Wilson had eight rebounds, seven blocks and six points for the Sharks.

Bishop Verot at Riverdale: No score reported.

Boys basketball

Cape Coral 72, North Fort Myers 43: Harwin Francois scored 29 points to lead the Seahawks past North Fort Myers in a District 7A-10 game. The Seahawks (2-0, 1-0) also got 17 points from Bryan Markovich and 12 from Jonnathan Moreno. North fell to 0-2, 0-1.

Oasis 91, LaBelle 82: Taylon Hutchins posted a triple-double with 35 points, 14 rebounds and 10 assists. Hutchins was one of five Sharks scoring in double digits as Oasis opened the season by downing LaBelle in a District 5A-10 contest. Gabe Casey had a double-double with 12 points and 13 rebounds. Meanwhile, Kyle Bethel scored 13 points and Vlad Dorlys and Kylar Frias added 11 points each for the Sharks, who are back in action on Wednesday at South Fort Myers.

Bishop Verot 64, St. John Neumann 39: Ten different Vikings scored in the win, led by senior Peyton Heben with 11 points and senior Noah Brittenham with 10. Another senior, Josh Schwartz, had 10 rebounds for Bishop Verot (2-0, 1-0 District 5A-10). The Vikings are home against Ida Baker on Friday.

Cypress Lake 62, Island Coast 53: The Gators dropped their season opener at Cypress Lake on Tuesday. Island Coast's home opener is Thursday against East Lee County.

Cape Coral 56, North Fort Myers 35: Cape Coral (3-1, 2-0 District 7A-10) completed a season sweep of North Fort Myers (0-3, 0-2).

Charlotte 62, Island Coast 22: Lauren Jackson scored 12 points and had 16 rebounds as Charlotte (3-0, 1-0 District 7A-10) won at Island Coast (1-3, 0-1).

Lemon Bay 52, Ida Baker 13: Ida Baker starts the season 0-2.

Boys soccer

Mariner 6, Dunbar 2: The unbeaten Tritons got two goals by DJ McKay, and single tallies by Marvin Aviles, John Franco, Alex Franco and Leo Perez to pick up the road District 3A-13 victory.

Cape Coral 1, Immokalee 1: The Seahawks (6-0-1) played to a draw in a non-district road match against the Indians (3-3-2). Cape Coral faces archrival Mariner on Friday.

Port Charlotte 5, North Fort Myers 2: Pirates senior Nate Ruth had a hat trick, including scoring on a penalty shot, as Port Charlotte (2-2-1, 2-1 District 3A-13) downed North Fort Myers (0-6, 0-1).

Oasis 3, Clewiston 3 (tie): Down 2-0 at the half, Oasis battled back to earn a draw in a District 2A-12 match in Clewiston. The Sharks (1-2-1, 1-1-1) play at Canterbury on Friday.

Bishop Verot 2, Lehigh 0: The Vikings (2-2-1) defeated Lehigh, 2-0. Kevin Reynolds had a goal and an assist. Josh Heald had a goal. Tomas Bickel had an assist.

Girls soccer

North Fort Myers 6, Port Charlotte 3: Six different Red Knights scored in the District 3A-13 victory, including Taylor Kruse,who had a goal and and two assists. Macey Earhart and Avie Montoya each had a goal and an assist, and Emilee Hauser and Brooke Hawkins also scored in helping the Red Knights improve to 4-0-1, 2-0 in the district. Port Charlotte slipped to 2-4, 0-2. North faces Ida Baker at home on Friday.

Ida Baker 6, Palmetto Ridge 3: The Bulldogs scored four first-half goals and went on to a road win at Palmetto Ridge. Ida Baker improved to 3-0-2, including 2-0-1 in District 4A-12. The Bulldogs face another district foe, Riverdale, at home on Thursday.

Cape Coral 14, Island Coast 0: The Seahawks (5-0-1) have not allowed a goal this season. Island Coast remains winless. Cape Coral has a road match at archrival Mariner on Friday, while the Gators are off until facing North Fort Myers at home on Dec. 4.

Mariner 9, Dunbar 0: The Tritons improved to 6-1-1 with the win, including 2-0 in District 3A-13. Dunbar fell to 0-5, 0-2. Mariner is home against Cape Coral on Friday.

Oasis 6, Clewiston 2: The Sharks (5-1, 2-1) led 5-0 at the half on the way to a District 2A-12 win over the Tigers (2-2, 1-1). Oasis has a match at Canterbury on Friday.
