Stevens Construction earns Contractor of the Year for seventh year

Stevens Construction Inc. earned four awards at the Lee Building Industry Association Industry Awards event on Nov. 17, including the highest honor of Contractor of the Year.

A panel of nationwide judges named Stevens Construction Contractor of the Year based on criteria such as the company's achievement of goals, client relations, professional certifications and community responsibilities.

This is the seventh year Stevens Construction has received this honor, the company won in 2016, 2015, 2014, 2012, 2011 and 2007.

In 2016, Stevens Construction completed The Cottage at Cypress Cove, a 45,000-square-foot memory care facility for Cypress Cove at HealthPark Florida.

Stevens Construction won a Summit Award for the best restaurant project in the $0-$1.9 million-plus division for The French. Located in Naples, Stevens Construction transformed a vacated retail space situated on the ground floor of a three-story building, into an authentic French restaurant.

Stevens Construction also won a Summit Award for the best clubhouse within $2-$4.9 million for the Sanctuary Golf Club on Sanibel. Stevens Construction completed the 6,000-square-foot fitness center and renovation of the 50,000-square-foot clubhouse in multiple phases to ensure minimal disruption.

In the best health care $5-$8 million category, Stevens Construction earned a Summit Award for The Cottage at Cypress Cove, a state-of-the-art memory care facility.

Stevens Construction has earned 46 Summit Awards since the program began in 2006.

Kagan joins SRMA as executive director

The Southwest Regional Manufacturers Association recently announced industry veteran Neil Kagan has accepted a position as executive director. Kagan has nearly 30 years experience in the field, 20 of those in the Southwest Florida market. Furthering economic development gains for manufacturers in the region and reinforcing a robust workforce are among his top priorities.

Starting with a degree in industrial engineering from California State College-Long Beach, Kagan has worked in capacities such as director of quality assurance and operations manager. In 2007, he joined the Manufacturing Extension Partnership and became an efficiency expert working with small, medium and large companies in a variety of industries.

The SRMA will provide on-going informational workshops, seminars and other activities to increase the engagement of its members and enhance the benefits they receive from the organization. An abiding principle of the SRMA is that manufacturing sector success will result in a more vibrant, diversified economy for Southwest Florida.

GATES Construction completes stores for national retailers

GATES Construction has completed construction on two new retail stores at Coconut Point Mall, Total Wine & More and Tuesday Morning. Located at 8012 Mediterranean Drive, Suites A & B, in Estero, the project consisted of splitting the former Sports Authority building into two separate tenant spaces. Total Wine & More is approximately 19,620 square feet and Tuesday Morning is approximately 17,697 square feet.

Total Wine & More has a wine education room, beer and wine demonstration area, and a walk in humidor. The exterior facade and entrances were remodeled and the interior was completely demolished and renovated to accommodate the new tenants. GATES previously constructed multiple phases at the mall that included the original Sports Authority.

October sales strong for Neal Communities

In Lee and Collier counties, private homebuilder Neal Commu-nities saw 28 sales in October, bringing its 2017 total to 219 sales in its south region.

Neal Communities' south region notched seven sales at Avalon of Naples, a multifamily community featuring luxury carriage home buildings, and four sales at Daniels Place, a master-planned community in Fort Myers with 85 single-family homes.

The builder's other neighborhoods include Coastal Key, Coconut Cove, Cypress Walk, Oaks of Estero and Watermark.

New home sites were recently released at Cypress Walk, a gated community of 114 single-family homes with lake and preserve views in Fort Myers. Only 55 home sites remain in the community, with 14 of those recently released. Cypress Walk offers potential homebuyers a myriad of floor plans and home designs, with several flexible options for space. Its one-story and two-story plans range from 1,772 to 2,577 square feet.

In North Naples, the homebuilder opened pre-sales at its new community Richmond Park featuring its popular luxury carriage homes. Two of Neal Communities' neighborhoods are also nearing complete sell out at Canopy and Estero Place, a private, gated community in Estero. Reflection Lakes in Naples is now sold out.

McPherson brings more than 23 years of related experience to her role as O-A-K project manager.
